GDA Named to Fast Company’s Fourth Annual List of the Next Big Things in Tech

Houston, TX, November 19, 2024 — Genesis Digital Assets Limited (“GDA”), one of the largest bitcoin mining companies in the world in terms of hash rate, today announced that it has been named to Fast Company’s fourth annual Next Big Things in Tech list, honoring emerging technology that has a profound impact for industries—from education and sustainability to robotics and artificial intelligence.

This year, 138 technologies developed by established companies, startups, or research teams are featured for their potential to revolutionize the lives of consumers, businesses, and society overall. While not all technologies are available in the market yet, each is reaching key milestones to have a proven impact in the next five years.

GDA has expanded its commitment to sustainable Bitcoin mining through innovative projects worldwide. This year, the company launched its first Bitcoin mining center in South America and its 20th site globally, located in Argentina’s Neuquén Province, in partnership with YPF Luz, a leading electric power generation company. Powered by stranded gas—a byproduct of oil extraction that would otherwise be flared—this facility captures methane and repurposes it to generate electricity, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions and contributing to global methane mitigation efforts. Operating at the Bajo del Toro Thermal Power Plant with 1,200 mining machines and a 7 MW capacity, this site underscores GDA’s commitment to using untapped energy sources in an environmentally conscious way.

Additionally, this year, GDA successfully launched new data centers in Texas and South Carolina and expanded capacity in the Nordics. These expansions have added significant capacity to its operations, leveraging renewable energy sources and advanced cooling technologies. Through these initiatives, GDA demonstrates how Bitcoin mining can be a force for positive change, creating local jobs and reinforcing community infrastructure while minimizing environmental impact.

“We are honored to be recognized by Fast Company for our innovative approach to advancing Bitcoin mining,” said Andrey Kim, CEO of GDA. “This award highlights our dedication to leveraging technology in ways that benefit both the environment and the communities where we operate, proving that digital innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand.”

“The Next Big Things in Tech provides a fascinating glimpse at near- and long-term technological breakthroughs across a variety of sectors,” says Brendan Vaughan, editor-in-chief of Fast Company. “Spanning everything from semiconductors to agricultural gene editing, the companies featured in this year’s list are tackling some of the world’s most pressing and vexing problems.”
